Damon Thompson

Damon Thompson is a lead preacher at The Ramp, a christian charismatic ministry in Hamilton, Alabama.

Under The Ramp's founder Karen Wheaton, Damon Thompson's job is to distort reality to as many young people as possible. Following the faulty premise of Kingdom Now Theology he teaches adolescents that it will take a literal, physical kingdom to be implemented on Earth in present day, under Biblical law to bring Christ back. While on Earth, Dominionists equate the New Testament Kingdom with the Old Testament Israel so they can excuse themselves when "taking up the sword" and condemning sinners and laying judgment, and warring against anyone not aligned to their Kingdom Now worldview.

With that in mind...watch this video:

The first part of this video came from a sermon he did on June 20th,2008, and went viral when blogger and Youtuber Ashtonelijah uploaded an excerpt of it a little over a month ago and prompt criticism from the LBGT community followed, so much so that Damon had to "clarify" things by releasing a statement on his website. It's not there anymore but in it he is quoted as saying,

"I talk about homosexuality as I would adultery, alcoholism, pornography, drug addiction, etc. As with all sin, I recognize its destructive nature and out of love call people away from it."

Beside the obvious "choosing to sin" fallacy, what's made clear here is that Damon recognizes the boost that demonizing homosexuality brings to his own brand of spiritual warfare. His more recent sermons include deliberately derogatory terms such as "queers" and "homos". Apparently he does that out of "love", too. He seems to be a master of tying that rhetoric to a concerted political agenda that reinforces his Kingdom Now Worldview.

That theology itself, a branch of dominion theology, envelops Pentecostal beliefs such as continuationism (the continuance of receiving spiritual gifts in present day) but also a belief that since the fall of man, God lost control of the Earth to Satan and ever since God has searched for "covenant people" to be his living expression on Earth.  They believe in a five-fold ministry, which states that the 5 offices of the Christian church are still relevant and should be reinstated as the government of the church itself. Those five offices and what they do are as followed:
taken from here

ResponsibilityNatural Manifestation
ApostleDoctrine and DisciplineEnjoys building things: projects, businesses, etc.
ProphetDiscern and Proclaim God’s Word.Has a keen (sometimes problematic) sense of Justice.
EvangelistPresent the Gospel of Christ to the lost.Enjoys direct contact with people. Most are successful salesmen.
PastorTo care for the everyday needs of the church familyEnjoys serving. Loves to have people come to their home.
TeacherInstruct the Church in the practical application of God’s Word.Is able to explain complex issues in a way that even a child can understand.

Adherents believe that the authority of all things Heaven and Earth have been imparted onto Jesus and because the same holy spirit dwelt in Jesus as it does in them, they have the authority to smite down any rebellion they see as an impasse to the Kingdom Age. When the church government is in place, they will have a better position to control other social institutions (or "Kingdoms"), especially in politics. They believe that those in control of those "Kingdoms" are to be the leardereship of the church(apostles and prophets) and the church itself is the the "Many Membered Man Child" or the body of Christ with Christ himself as the head. All of that represents a fulfillment of Revelations 12:1-5. In the meantime, and in accordance with I Corinthians 15:25-26 they are justified to make war with his enemies.

Who are the enemies? Homosexuals, humanists, mainstream media, the "secular" culture and generally anything that isn't christian.
So when Damon Thompson is calling people away from the the "sin" of homosexuality, what he means is: join the charismatic army of Christ or die by their hands in the future.

It's all an extremely disturbing display of bigotry coming from the lost Gogan family member.
(just search for Pete's Dragon...)
